What Is the Spain Digital Nomad Visa?

The Spain DNV is a residence visa that allows non-EU citizens, including Filipinos, to legally live in Spain while working remotely for companies or clients located outside of Spain. It’s designed for digital nomads, remote employees, and freelance professionals.

Can Filipinos Apply for the Spain DNV?

Yes. Filipinos are eligible to apply as long as they meet the following criteria:

  • You work remotely (freelancer, contractor, or employee of a foreign company)

  • You must have a University degree or 3+ Years of Relevant Work Experience in your field.

    • You've worked for at least 3 months for a company that's operating for at least 1 year.

  • A monthly salary of at least €2.762,66 or around P176,000 (depending on the conversion rate)

What are the Requirements?

Here’s a simplified checklist of the basic documents you’ll need:

  • A non-EU passport (yep, that’s us!)

  • Remote job or freelance contracts with clients outside Spain

  • A clean police record (you’ll need an NBI clearance)

  • Private health insurance that’s valid in Spain

  • Bank Statements or Income documents

  • Diplomas and other education documents

  • Apostilles and Translations

It’s a bit of paperwork—but doable.

Where to Apply for the Spain DNV as a Filipino?
  1. Enter Spain on a Spanish SCHENGEN Tourist Visa and Apply Online in Spain. You’ll be able to get a three-year visa and residence permit if your application is successful. If you have the budget and extra strength and time to apply for the Schengen Visa, this is recommended.

  2. Visit the nearest Spanish Embassy or Consulate in your country and get a 1-year Digital Nomad visa. You can use the visa to enter Spain and then apply for your three-year residence permit. If you're a Filipino currently living in the Philippines, this is the easiest and most economical way.

Step-by-Step Application Process (Simplified)
  1. Request for NIE.

  2. Gather all the requirements.

  3. Apostille documents.

  4. Translate documents to Spanish.

  5. Submit Application and Requirements at BLS.

  6. Wait for Approval.
